Pastor Search Update 3/25/24

As we enter the month of April, our Senior Pastor search will be accelerating rapidly as we begin interviewing finalists. We want to encourage the church to pray these scripture passages not only over our next pastor and his family but also over ourselves as we anticipate the Lord’s working in the life of our church.

Pastor Search Update 3/13/24

We hope everyone is having a great day so far! We wanted to give you a brief update on where we are in our search and give you some news about the upcoming weeks in terms of preaching for our church.

The search team is scheduled to have our “Mid-Point Check In” with Tracey Smith and the team from The Aaron Hur Group on Tuesday, March 19. In this meeting, Tracey will update us on the applicant pool and present us with some potential candidates/finalist options without revealing names just yet. This will give us an idea of the kind of folks he’s been speaking with, and he will make sure his direction is lining up with our search team’s desires and prayer focus. All of Tracey’s interviews have been informed by the onsite visit he made here weeks ago and the time he has spent with our search team. We are getting one step closer to identifying our finalists and beginning the interview process with our search team! We are being patiently optimistic that it won’t be too many more months until we can officially announce our candidate to be the next Senior Pastor here at The Point!

In the meantime, haven’t you enjoyed having Dr. Mike Wiggins preaching to us every week? He has been a blessing and a Godsend to our church!  In the months of April and May, Dr. Wiggins is going to get a couple of breaks, and our pastoral team will be filling the pulpit a couple of times: John and Mitch two Sundays in April and Joe one Sunday in May. In addition, we have a Men’s Steak Out coming up on Sunday evening, April 21 in which Dr. Brian Nall will be bringing a challenge to our guys! The Point Church loves preaching, and we have a great couple of months lined up as we move through the Spring!

Please continue to be in prayer for our search team and for the man God has already picked to be our next Senior Pastor!

God Bless,

The Pastor Search Team

Pastor Search Update 2/26/24

First of all, thanks to everyone for praying for our Pastor Search Team and process. Prayer has been and is the foundation of all we’ve been doing during our search. We wanted to finally post an update on where we are in our search thus far.

As many of you are aware, we have partnered with The Aaron Hur Group (AHG) to assist us in the search process. Tracey Smith and his team at AHG have been a pleasure to work with, and we have loved their emphasis on prayer and waiting on The Lord as we await the man God would have to lead our church into this next season.

After months of praying and planning, we began accepting resumes last Monday, February 19. According to Tracey, the response has been extremely positive with many impressive and qualified pastors applying. From Monday to Wednesday last week (2 days into posting the position), we had over 100 applicants.  The post itself on the AHG website has been viewed around 1500 times, and we are sure we’ve had many more applicants over the weekend.

Based on some prior staff searches over the last couple of years, we anticipated a high quantity of applicants. A big reason why we partnered with AHG was to help us sift through the mass of resumes and prayerfully identify viable candidates for the position. We will be collecting resumes over the next month and will be interviewing candidates in April.

As we are able, we will continue updating everyone with as much information as we can. Once we start speaking with candidates, we’ll need to maintain a certain amount of confidentiality to protect everyone involved in the process. In the meantime, we ask that everyone continue praying for us and our future pastor and family.

Here are a couple of prayer points that have already been highlighted in the prayer guides we’ve all been praying through the last few months. We’d ask that you’d continue to take these petitions before the Lord on a consistent basis:

  1. Pray for the unity of the church.
  2. Pray for the unity of the search team.
  3. Pray for wisdom and discernment for Tracey and the team at AHG as they receive applications and vet the candidates .
  4. Please pray for wisdom and discernment for our Pastor Search Team as we seek the Lord’s Will for who the finalists should be as we move into interviews in the coming weeks.

God Bless,

The Pastor Search Team
